my visit to the Barranquilla Carnival Museum
my visit to the Barranquilla carnival museum
The carnival of
barranquilla is a festival on the
caribbean coast, in which it is only worth being completely happy, it is full
of many moments to enjoy and laugh, I had never had the opportunity to go to
the museum that is in his honor, maybe because I live a little far from him,
but without a doubt I am glad that thanks to the teacher I was able to visit
him and learn more about his history.
Behind each representative symbol of the carnival such as the marimonda, the alligator man, the cumbia, or the mapale dance, there is a significant story that gave rise to them.
referring a little more to the visit to the museum, it began on the top floor where there was a giant screen where they showed us a documentary about the origins of the barranquilla carnival, they showed us its history and the way it all started.
There were a lot of data that I was able to know, data that I could not even imagine, I had always noticed the joy of carnival, to dance and party but I had never investigated further, and there is definitely a lot to see, tell and know about our beautiful carnival
After this we went down to a floor where there were entire walls full of many interesting facts about the carnival as well as representative symbols of it, in addition to reading it was also a space to remember that which always characterizes our coastal joy, on that floor there were a pickup that is so popular on our coast, not only at carnivals, a pickup with that rhythm as catchy as the champeta, we took pictures there, I was able to learn more about the carnival but the best thing was seeing my teacher and a classmate dance at the rhythm of the music, with that joy and that smile that is characteristic of us.
after this we went down to what was undoubtedly my favorite part In that room were the dresses that the queens of the carnival had worn for their coronation, it was beautiful and magical to see the variety of beautiful dresses that were in that place as well as the number of years that several have, something curious is that I could see the coronation dress that the queen wore the day my parents were born, 1984, as well as the dress of the year in which I was born, 2001, it is incredible how those dresses have been kept from generation to generation and how we are given today the possibility of seeing them so closely, as if we had been there at the time, fantastic to see so many beautiful dresses and names of the women who have been part of the history of the carnival, representing it as the queens of the carnivaL.
